At the time the Incomplete is granted, you and the instructor agree how the missing work will be made up, and usually agree on a deadline. You should never register for the course again to make up an Incomplete. The expectation is that you will have the missing work completed within a few weeks. If the instructor agrees, you can have up to a year to complete the work required; if a 0.

A matriculated student is one who has been admitted to a UW school or college, as a premajor or declared major. To be granted an undergraduate degree, a student must complete at least 45 UW credits as a matriculated student. After a student has been admitted to the UW, types of UW credit which count toward this matriculation requirement include "regular" credit courses listed in MyPlan, credits taken at another UW campus, credit courses offered by UW Professional and Continuing Education, and all UW online learning courses.

Students who have completed or more credits and 5 or more academic satisfactory progress quarters but have not declared a major will receive a registration hold and will not be allowed to register for the next quarter. In order to register for the following quarter a student would need to either declare a major or work with their adviser to recieve a pre-major extension. Students who have been dropped for low scholarship will need to submit a reinstatement peition to return to the University of Washington. See our reinstatement page to learn more about the reinstatement process. A UW student is allowed to repeat a course once, with departmental permission. When you repeat a course, the course is recorded again on your transcript with the grade earned.
Both grades remain on your transcript, and both are calculated into your GPA. See the Registration Restrictions page to learn more. To graduate with a baccalaureate degree, a student must complete at least 45 credits in residence at the UW. Residence credits are UW credits earned through the campus granting the degree.
In addition, 45 of the last 60 credits must be taken in residence; this is referred to as the final-year residence requirement. The idea is that in order to earn a UW degree, the majority of your final courses — which are usually upper division courses in your major — should be taken through the UW. These courses may be part of a study abroad program as long as the courses are offered as part of a UW program.

No grade quality points none during first year after the "I" is incurred; thereafter, zero 0. The "SP" and "UP" grades are used only for those courses approved by College committees to have an extended grading period beyond the normal term ending due to the nature of the material covered in the courses.
Note: the "IP" no longer is valid for courses approved for "IP" grading at the graduate level. An "SP" or "UP" grade must be submitted.
The "NP" is used only for level and below English courses that require a level of proficiency to move through the sequence and that are approved by the appropriate College committees.
In May , the Faculty Senate resolved that: "all course instructors have a professional responsibility to submit a grade for every student using only the approved UC grades. Online Class Grading requires instructors to enter either a valid grade or the "NG" mark for all students officially enrolled in the class.
Grading Scales and Definitions. Grades at the University of Cincinnati will be determined using the following considerations. Each instructor is responsible for the maintenance of high standards. Students have protection through orderly procedures against prejudiced or capricious academic evaluation.
The method of grading by instructors must be made clear to students, and instructors may be required to justify disputed grades. At the same time, students are responsible for maintaining those reasonable standards of academic performance and classroom conduct conducive to the learning process, as established in each course in which they are enrolled.
The University Registrar uses grades to compute both term and cumulative grade point averages GPA based upon the credit level of the courses taken.
