Should i get world of warcraft

We warned him about monitoring the time he spent on WoW, but to no avail. He is now minus a laptop until college starts in the fall. We have had more than one other occasion where other families have suffered from this game as well. Please proceed with caution! This review Helped me decide.

Had useful details 2. Read my mind. Report this review. Adult Written by stephen haladay May 5, The game is not the issue, the people on the internet are.

Your kids will be able to talk to other people, and they can be jerks. World of Warcraft is really toned down in violence from the original games it is based on Warcraft. Those games had some blood in it, this does not.

The only issue you need to worry about with this game is that you will see other people talking in the chat box in the lower corner. You can turn it off to not see it, but it is real easy to figure out how to turn it on. You can also get to hear other people again, it can be turned off but is easy to turn it back on. So you have to think if your child is old enough to be exposed to that kind of thing.

There are a lot of great people in the game, but there are some real jerks. There are also great people who talk in a way that preteens shouldn't be exposed to.

This is one of those titles where the parent really needs to think about the maturity of their child. Some kids can play it real young, but others may need to wait on it. Had useful details. Parent of a year-old Written by ville. Barely nothing in it. The only thing is that you can consume and buy alcohol. All the rest is fine.

This title contains: Ease of Play. Adult Written by desius March 27, Update for This is not the current version of the game I just wanted to clarify for parents, that this version of World of Warcraft was the original WoW that was released in WoW in is a very different game, and if you want current reviews See my review in Battle for Azeroth.

This title contains: Consumerism. Adult Written by BothnianReviews February 3, Very difficult to rate, a mature 14 year old could play it. Well, i used to play this game as a kid, i'm 25 now and soon So you can calculate what i was around when it came out. Content wise, its quite cartoon-like and so is all the violence and gory, i mean its not too realistic Then again because the game is online, anything can be discussed in the in-game chat, and there are lot of different age and background persons playing this game, so i would either give it a rating of 14 or then just jump it to Really though decision, i would say 14 if your kid is more mature - but 17 if you have suspicion that they are not mature enough.

I'm rating it 17 since if i had kids i don't have kids yet i certainly wouldn't want them to be playing these online games at too young age. Its not a guarantee that it would happen, but kids can get very disturbed ideas from in-game chat People can write anything before they get temporarily banned in games.

I remember people writing offensive stuff in game when i played it, i mean you can't control how the other players will act no matter how much you use parental monitoring, and it is an online game where you are supposed to play and interact with others - it is better not only for your kids, but also the other players that you do not let any younger than 14 year old in this kind of game which involves an online community.

I also remember this game being very time consuming, for instance sometimes dungeons take hours to complete, and you need other players in order to get through them, this resulted in that i was playing this game in middle of the night even when i was a 13 year old teen So there is really no sense to get this to your 10 year old, no sense at all.

Adult Written by Toria August 13, Not as bad as half the reviews are making out I have read through most of these reviews and I just don't get it. I've been playing for a while now and nobody apart from my brother, has chatted to me in game. So all this profanity and sexualised chat within the ingame chat options haven't popped up for me? The monsters and enemies you have to fight are for the most part quite funny and no scarier than other games targeted at children.

There are still some concerns over the Great Vault - like whether or not it's enough of a reward for those sinking in the most time - but by and large, the system is a new idea from Blizzard that's helped make the Shadowlands endgame more accessible without making it feel too simplified or mundane. There's also Torghast, the World of Warcraft answer to rougelike dungeon exploration. Torghast mixes up the way endgame progression usually goes, randomizing more than just loot drops while also offering Torghast-specific character builds that grow more powerful the deeper a player gets in a run.

Torghast hasn't been for everyone , and it can still be a vexing element of the game whenever runs go awry, but it's yet another addition to World of Warcraft's endgame content that has improved and diversified its experience. Since Shadowlands launched last year, WoW has gotten bug fixes and balancing updates, including the most recent fixes to the Sanctum of Domination on September Of course, the recent lawsuits and controversies surrounding Activision-Blizzard have likely diminished some of the goodwill players felt after Shadowlands ' release, but looking at the game solely as an MMO, WoW still holds up incredibly well.

In the meantime, fans are eagerly awaiting Patch 9. For these reasons, World of Warcraft is still very much worth playing in He joined the team in and has been reporting on games pretty well every day since - except on weekends, where he's typically playing them instead.

By Cody Gravelle Updated Oct 06, Each drastically changes how your class plays. If you create a Mage, you can pick between the Fire, Arcane and Frost specializations.

This creates quite a bit of adaptability, especially since some classes can jump between fulfilling the Tank, DPS and Healer roles. Druids can do this and have four specialization options instead of three. Unfortunately, the classes are unbalanced at the moment.

These four have consistently been some of the strongest damage dealers throughout Shadowlands so far. However, keep in mind that the meta is always changing. We also recommend sticking exclusively with a DPS Damage role for your first character. The expectations for a Healer or Tank within Dungeons and Raids is far too demanding for any new player to handle.

At the end of the day, you should play whichever class, race, and specialization seems the most appealing to you without worrying too much about the state of the game. After you leave your faction city and begin heading to your designated Battle for Azeroth zone, you can use your Hearthstone item check your bag to teleport back to your main city. Travel to that icon and meet with a character named Chromie.

For the most part, The Cataclysm takes you throughout Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, combining zones from the original World of Warcraft and the Cataclysm expansion. The expansion's pre-sales are already doing incredibly well and the recent Welcome Back event offered lapsed subscribers a chance to dive back into WoW and see what the Shadowlands pre-patch era is like. It will be very interesting to see how strong subscription numbers are when the new expansion launches and whether or not WoW is able to hold onto that influx of players in the months after Shadowlands is out.

Hopefully an engaging endgame and steady flow of post launch content are delivered and can keep the community logging in throughout the end of and into the new year. Be sure to check back in the coming weeks as more details about Shadowlands emerge.
