This expoxy is heat and vibration resistant and remains flexible over a wide temperature range. The vacuum is turned off and the epoxy allowed to cure.
A second coat of epoxy is applied without the vacuum this time, and cured. Now the fun of putting it back in. Canman Edit: I forgot to mention the reason they don't disassemble the crimped ends and solder or braze the pipes is that when the intercooler is manufactured they use a special press to squeeze the plastic top and bottom together with rubber gaskets between them and the core while another press does the crimping.

TDI busted oil pan three years ago on a friends car JB Weld still doing its thing! Aluminum head on an overhead cam motorcycle engine Worn surface built up with JB Weld!
Engine ran fine for another number of years! There are many excellent stories of successful use of JB Weld. Preparation is the Key! Do it! Wayne Boudreau Veteran Member. Had several holes on the Inter-cooler caused by chafing used JB Weld.
My experience with JB Weld has been nothing else than great for just about any job. Apply, wait overnight and forget about the hole. I would say the repaired area is stronger than the original inter-cooler metal. Joined Sep 27, Location Spicewood, Tx. TDI I would be concerned as a boost leak, you are running rich and losing FE.. JB weld would work.. These will eventually fail, cause even more leaks or bigger problems, wasted money, and significant down time. The right option to repair your intercooler will most often be to re-core it, or exchange the core for a new one.
At Bell Intercoolers, we have the experience and technology to reverse-engineer obsolete parts and then re-design them to improve their performance. Heat exchangers are often designed and built on production lines which become obsolete in only a few years. When a replacement heat exchanger cannot be obtained from its original manufacturer, the only way to replace it is to design and build a new one that fits and functions like or better than the original one.
When working on reproducing an obsolete part or improving the performance of a customer cooling system, our Re-Engineering process and capabilities enable us to make precise changes that meet specifications with the greatest of accuracy.
It also helps us to create products that perform better and last longer. By leveraging the use of the latest in design technology, we ensure that every cooling system fits and performs perfectly from the start, without any modifications to your vehicle of equipment.
Bell Intercoolers uses the latest in laser scanning technology to digitize parts with extreme accuracy and speed. At Bell Intercoolers, we have the experience and capabilities to repair or recondition cooling systems back to their full working capacity. We take advantage of our extensive core inventory to exchange a failed core for a new one, utilizing the existing components in your cooling system, such as tanks, threaded connections, fitting or mounts.
